These rules govern all parts of the Baystation12 community: the server, website, and official channels & servers in IRC & Discord. They exist to guide you in how we expect you to act within our community and, if you do something wrong, so that we can help to explain what was wrong about what you did. You should familiarize yourself with the rules before participating. If you have questions or need to report a problem with another user, contact a member of staff in-game with adminhelp (F1) or through an official channel.

If you are new or returning to Baystation12, you should also read Sol Central Government Law, Sol Code of Uniform Justice, and Standard Operating Procedure so that you understand what your character will be expected to know about the law and the ship while you play the game.


You are here to have fun in good faith. Play, but not at the personal expense of others.
The rules exist to foster good play. Their intent is more important than their wording.
The staff are players who help you. Everyone is a person who is giving you their time.

Core Rules

⚹01. Do not harass or be cruel to other users.
⚹02. Do not post, link to, or provide instructions to access illegal or adult material.
⚹03. Do not use real slurs, or fictional slurs based on real slurs.
⚹04. Do not attack or vilify other communities.
⚹05. Do not evade bans or use multiple accounts.
⚹06. Do not use an account name that is offensive or breaks core rules.
⚹07. Do not ask admins to change other admins' decisions.
⚹08. Do not advertise anything without senior staff permission.
⚹09. Listen to staff members; they are not the enemy.

Server Rules

⚹10. Do not use non-english languages to communicate.
⚹11. Do not grief, sandbox, or deathmatch, including after round end.
⚹12. Do not use bugs or exploits.
⚹13. Do not talk about the current game in OOC, or outside the server.
⚹14. Do not try to influence vote outcomes in any chat channel.
⚹15. Do not touch or take from AFK/SSD characters without staff permission.
- During an emergency like radiation or decompression, asking after saving is acceptable.
⚹16. Do not quit play through suicide, disconnect while in play, or AFK for an extended period without staff permission.
- If you must leave suddenly you should still ahelp, even if you do not get a response.
- This includes hiding in lockers.
⚹17. Do not comment on others play in OOC; instead, contact staff with concerns.
⚹18. Do not engage in ERP, or waste job slots by tabbing out to do so.
⚹19. Aim to finish conflicts once an OOC voted round end countdown begins.
- Do not begin new antagonistic plans after the main timer begins.
- Do not begin new fights of any kind after the final short timer begins.

Character Rules

⚹20. Play as a reasonable character.
NOTE: Some antagonist rules waive parts of this rule. Check and see.
⚹a. They must fit the game setting and have an appropriate name (see Rule 25).
⚹b. They must not be or use references to real people, media, or the Internet.
⚹c. They must have common sense, seek comfort, and avoid pain and death.
⚹d. They must have skills and knowledge appropriate to their age and job.
⚹e. They must not seek to kill, maim, or act "crazy" under normal conditions (see Rule 26).
⚹f. They must not be aware of meta-concepts; "round", "antagonist", "chat log", etc. Also see Rule 32.
⚹21. "Canon" is limited to Torch crew socialization with other Torch crew.
⚹22. Do not use crew characters in non-crew roles: external antagonists, survivors, etc.
⚹23. Do not join a round as the same character twice without staff permission.
⚹24. Do not ignore the job you have joined the round as, or try to do other jobs.
- This includes passengers and any "off duty" going "on duty" attempts.
⚹25. Character Naming
NOTE: This is character name in setup. Records may be more complicated, within reason.
⚹a. Humans: Must be "Firstname Surname". Particles like "von" are allowed. Initials, titles, middle, & nicknames are not.
⚹b. Vat-Grown Humans: As Humans, or "Name-Code", or "Code-Name". Name may be a mononym.
⚹c. IPC: As Vat-Grown Humans, or a mononym without number. Mononyms may be words.
⚹d. Skrell: As Humans, or a mononym, picking from Skrellian-language and human names.
⚹e. Unathi: Must be "PersonalName ClanName", using Unathi-language names.
⚹f. Yeosa Unathi: Must be "ClanName Personalname WorkName", using Unathi-language names.
⚹g. Diona: Must be a chosen description of formative sensory experience, or shortening.
⚹h. Adherent: Must be a job title appropriate to chosen role, followed by dashed alphanumeric ID.
⚹i. Ascent Gyne: Must be "Number Home Title", with Number being low. Home Title is the Gyne's territory name.
⚹j. Serpentid: Must be a simple human mononym.
⚹k. Vox: Hit random, work it out.
⚹26. Character Disabilities
⚹a. ALL non-antagonist characters:
- Cannot have any mental disability that causes them to be non functional or dangerous.
⚹b. Torch EC, Fleet, and all Contractors (except those in Rule 26 c)
- Cannot have any missing limbs at all. Prosthetics do not count as missing.
- Cannot be mute, deaf, or blind.
⚹c. Torch Passengers, Civilian Command Support, Civilian & Government Science, and Civilian Service
- Cannot have more than 2 missing limbs.
- Cannot have more than 1 missing arm.
- Of these, ONLY Torch Passengers may be mute, deaf, or blind, and never more than 1 of these.
⚹27. Do not create characters intended to depict minors - that is, humans under 18 or equivalents.

Antagonist Rules

NOTE: These rules DO NOT apply to Provocateurs & roles given different instructions by admins.
⚹28. Except for Renegades, you must actively antagonize the Torch crew and may not ignore your role.
⚹29. You must invent a reasonable story, even if simple, that explains your actions.
⚹30. You may have skills that are inappropriate to your age and job by using antagonist skill picks.
- You must still obey the limitations of your skill-set once these are picked.
⚹31. You may use names that do not follow the naming rules. They must still follow core & server rules.
⚹32. You may seek to kill others, so long as it is justified by your story or circumstance.
- You do not need to give a victim an extensive or meaningful interaction to justify this.
- You may not go on killing sprees for the sake of body count.
⚹33. You may not recognize other antagonist types' tools or powers at first sight.
- This means antagonists without access to a tool or power (eg, wizard/power sink), as well as all non-antagonists.
- You may recognize the obvious: weapons are weapons (eg, swords) & odd tools are odd tools (eg, emags).
- You may not know their name or purpose without being told or shown first.

Staff Rules

⚹34. You must enforce the rules. You are not exempt from the rules.
⚹35. You must remain up to date with staff policies and guidelines.
⚹36. Remain professional in your role as a staff member. You represent the team and community.
⚹37. Respect confidentiality. Do not discuss administrative actions in public without senior staff permission.
⚹38. Do not carry out any kind of staff action via any unofficial channel without senior staff permission.
⚹39. Do not hold events during voted extended, or against the flow of a round.
⚹40. Do not use staff powers to give yourself advantages outside events.
